Why they gotta say it like short? You know they can't play on my court, can't hang with the big dogs, stay on the porch, blow the whistle. A lot of wits, a lot of wits.
Speaker 2:A lot of wits, a lot of wits, ay, pero no hay boda. Titi, me pregunto Si tengo muchas novias. Muchas novias Hoy tengo, a una mañana a otra. Me la voy a llevar a la toa Con VIP. Un VIP, ay. Saluden a Titi. La maria no se fija. When I first saw you, I already knew. There was something inside of you Something I thought that I would never find. Angel of mine.
Speaker 3:Okay, monica Wait is it Monica.
Speaker 1:It is Monica.
Speaker 3:It is right.
Speaker 1:You know what that makes me think of. So TikTok has pushed this game on me. I saw it because I was scrolling through TikTok and it popped up and it was this early 2090s card game where it'll say Monica said what about her angel? And then you have to guess the rest of the song. It's really cool. I have it in my Amazon cart. We're going to play it here on the show one day. Um, it's actually a really, really fun game and it's like all 90s music, uh r&b, and like early 2000s hip-hop.
Speaker 3:Um oh, that'd be fun. Uh like, basically, you go off of like the lyrics of their songs or like title of their songs.
Speaker 1:Yes, yes, yes, yeah, I like that you guessing reminded me of that game, um, and then every so after now, every time after that, I see it come up on my timeline. Gotta love the algorithm, um, but welcome back to another episode of the hella choose my podcast. My name is dana and i'm'm Stephanie. And we are your host. This is my second glass of wine.
Speaker 3:Love that. You know, what I hate is like I had something in my head that I was like, oh, I want to talk about, I want to bring this up, and then, as soon as we got on and, like you, started singing it just we got on and like you started singing it, just I thought when
Speaker 2:like flying out the window. I'm like, damn, what was I gonna say? What was it?
Speaker 3:about. We'll have to. It'll come to me um what's going on?
Speaker 1:how's things going? Tell me all the things. It is officially um the 5th of december today the end of the year 20 days until 20 days till christmas and how many days till the end of the year? Like what? 30? No, 26 26 more days till the end of the year. So what's going on? Like what? 30? No 26. 26 more days to the end of the year.
Speaker 3:So what's going on? So what did I do this weekend? Oh, I did some Black Friday shopping. This weekend was Black Friday, right, black? Friday and all that yeah, so I did Black Friday. Oh, I think we already talked. All that yeah, so I did Black Friday.
Speaker 2:Oh, I think we already talked about that.
Speaker 3:Maybe Because we recorded Okay. So, yeah, I did some Black Friday shopping. I got my son his gift, so my son's birthday is. So it's Christmas, my son's birthday and New Year's on the same week. So I've been like, um, she's been grinding, yeah, she's been putting in work, um, yeah, and my son also has a tournament next week, uh, in yuma yep um, and I have a posada, which we talked about. What a posada is?
Speaker 1:last episode.
Speaker 3:Last episode, yeah yes, I have one, uh, this saturday, so that should be cute. I ordered some tamales for that um, so now that I'm thinking about it, I I'm like I might not be able to eat that, but yeah, I ordered that Um, so I'm looking forward to it and, um, just getting ready like for christmas and everything else, um, yeah, so you know, what I was gonna mention is that the mayor did an interview.
Speaker 3:I don't know if you saw it and uh wait uh san diego uh-huh um, and I don't know if you saw it or not, but there is plenty of budget cuts that are coming and there is a hiring freeze as well as overtime being suspended, and I think like I don't know. There's just like so many things in there. It's just like I don't understand we pay so much in taxes and mortgage and property tax and rent and groceries taxes and just confusing sometimes as to where this money goes, you know.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3:So I'd just be wondering like, how do we survive? Wondering like how do we survive?
Speaker 2:and who, who is willing?
Speaker 1:to cut their bonus and their race from the top.
Speaker 3:You know but you know who am I to judge these are all valid questions and valid statements and feelings.
Speaker 1:You know where I would start is right there, at those polls for the people, for that idiot and who clearly did not read the Project 2025 and what it all entailed and who did not. Also, if they did not understand something that was being said, didn't do their Googles to understand exactly what the fuck this new regime was going to bring in and how it was going to affect everyone else. So that's where mostly, I would start Got it. You know, I know who's definitely not going to be cutting any of their budgets is the rich one-person nurse, who, you know there will be no consequences for them.
Speaker 3:So there's that no consequences for them?
Speaker 1:Uh, so there's that Cutting into their lifestyle? No, cutting into their lifestyle, um, but you know, a little bit of a bright side right. Like you know, we work in, uh, both um, mostly federal government agencies, so you know mostly federal government agencies.
Speaker 3:So you know, for salary workers, um, we already don't get more do more and, you know, provide certain things to my children and you know myself, my home. So I'd be interested to see like how that goes yeah, like what kind of cut? What are we talking here?
Speaker 1:like yeah yeah, I mean what I was saying essentially, like you know, first. Yes, so my first statement remains the same about salary workers, but also being an employee of, like a government agency. Um, you know some most of them follow federal guidelines, uh, but I also think there's going to be a huge, a huge battle and um, between you know areas because, um, the governor is not, he ain't going for none of that shit, so I don't know, we'll see, I just wanted to bring that up.
Speaker 3:I'll be interested to see how it all goes because you know January and February is coming and when is the inauguration?
Speaker 1:usually around that time, where it's actually going to be the day. It's either the day of or after Martin Luther King Day, on the 20th or the 21st okay.
Speaker 3:So I mean we're gonna start to see trickles of you know like the effects, you know of the election and who was selected and just how that's going to play out. Yeah, for us as like, as like working class people, you know.
Speaker 2:Mm, hmm, yeah.
Speaker 3:Yeah, so that was one of the topics I thought I would bring up.
Speaker 1:I mean it's interesting's interesting right like it's already starting to come down the pipeline. It's already starting to happen. Um, we started to see it immediately after, uh, for when it comes to like specific types of funding and things like that. So, um, you know I hate, to say you told yourself.
Speaker 1:but we definitely try to you know, to advocate and to you know, tell you to be smart about these things and all we can do is try Dana. All we can do is try Dana. All we can do is try Exactly what else is happening. Have you done any other? Have you seen Wicked? Are you interested in seeing?
Speaker 3:Wicked. Oh yeah, I saw Wicked.
Speaker 1:How was it?
Speaker 3:It was really good. I thought it was really good. I cried but I'm also a cry baby, but um, it was long. It was long um. The visuals were very good. I would say um, the acting was very good. I'm not a big ariana grande like fan, um, but she did it was. It was good. I enjoyed watching it.
Speaker 1:I also saw moana too I want to see moana too, too I cried so much yeah, but moana, too, was so cute.
Speaker 3:Um, especially like I'm an older sibling and I was seeing a lot of things like oh it's, you know, older sisters can relate to it a lot and I was like, oh, this is cute, the diversity that was included in it and the variation, like how it shed light on different you know, like, just like Latinos, there's different shades of brown and different shades of you know hair texture, like you know. So same thing for them, you know, same thing with you know black people and and you know everything else. So it was cool that they kind of shed light on that and I I enjoyed it.
Speaker 1:I think they're gonna do a live action one, right yeah yeah if I remember correctly, a little while ago they were talking about doing a live action one. Um, it probably, I mean, but it takes a while. Uh, to you know, get some of those off the ground especially if they just released, uh, the sequel, so but yeah, that's gonna be cool sonic 3 is coming out.
Speaker 3:Did you see that?
Speaker 1:I don't know that I saw the second one. I know that I've seen the first one. Um, I can't 100 remember if I saw the second one. I know that I've seen the first one. I can't 100% remember if I saw the second one, but let me write that down.
Speaker 3:I'm going to need stuff to watch while I'm at home. December I think 21st is when the new one comes out, so you got to watch it by then. And what else? Yeah, Wicked was cute. The hair flip thing was funny, because I would see memes about the hair flipping and once I saw it I was like, oh, that's what they were talking about.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I've heard nothing but good things. Did you see any of the interviews and stuff that happened with it?
Speaker 1:I have been seeing some interviews and how they are very, extremely connected and physical I mean, well, yes, that, but I was more so talking about the set and like how it's like a real set. They built it, they made it essentially like this huge recording studio and all of like the music and songs and stuff that was sung was sung live, like they didn't do anything pre-recorded and you know how Cynthia Erivo and Ariana was doing their own, doing their own stunts and stuff and all the choreography and all of it. They wanted to make sure that they exuded the real Broadway show, but in a movie, so it's. I mean, the set is really dope even after. And then they have a whole new one that's coming out again next year for the sequel.
Speaker 3:Essentially, yeah, yeah, yeah. Based on the ending, I figured there would be a two. Also, I heard that when she was doing her stunt, like she was singing while doing her stunts. So when she's like flying in the air and stuff, like she was doing that and singing and that's what they got and I thought that was cool, you can tell like. Once I found that out, I was like I was like oh okay, you can tell that it was like authentic like yeah yeah, so I'm very excited it was a cool movie.
Speaker 1:I really enjoyed it yes, I'm very excited to see it.
Speaker 3:I would say, I'm definitely more. Oh sorry, oh no, go ahead. What were you gonna?
Speaker 1:say I'm definitely more. Oh sorry, no, go ahead. What were you going to say?
Speaker 3:I think my Wi-Fi, like skipped for a second. Sorry, I would say, because everyone's saying like are you a pink or green witch? I would say I'm like green.
Speaker 1:Oh, are you the wicked witch.
Speaker 3:I mean based on the first one. Yeah, I haven't seen the second one. I mean based on the first one. Yeah, I haven't seen the second one. I mean, can you change after that? I mean, we'll see how, what else?
Speaker 1:what other light is shed. And I love it. I mean, we shall see. I mean, I haven't seen it yet, so I don't even know where. Where am I? Either way, I I haven't seen it yet, so I don't even know where I lie. Either way, I'm probably the whiz, the one that has this whole big, gigantic place you can come to and live your life, everything's emerald.
Speaker 1:Everything's emerald and gold, and that's probably where my bread is buttered, um, but yeah, I think I'm gonna try and see it sometime this weekend, we'll see. If not, I'll just, you know, continue to wait. Um, I do want to see moana too. There's another movie that's out that I was like I want to see, but I can't think of what it is. But anyway, other than that, my Christmas tree is up.
Speaker 3:Oh yeah.
Speaker 1:Yes, my Christmas tree is up. My house is giving holiday on the inside. I still need to work on the outside because it's been cold and whenever I've been leaving work it's been dark. So, yeah, that's been cold and whenever I've been leaving work it's been dark, so yeah that's been a whole thing, but I'll probably work on it sometime this weekend what color did you end up deciding on your tree?
Speaker 1:so my tree is flocked like a blue color actually, like on the background. It's like a like that little tealy, like soft blue. Um, it's really pretty. And then I, so I did my ornaments are. They're like a like, a little um like a little bronzy, like metallics kind of yes, yes, but a little more monochromatic.
Speaker 1:and then, um, I like the lights to be, you know, on the white, like it's like a warm or like a cooler white, so so it has like a little tinge of blue in it. It looks really cute. And then I have gold little things coming around it. Um, it's really nice, I'm in love with it. However, the tree is crooked.
Speaker 3:Got it. So we can we fix that with the stand or no?
Speaker 1:We tried, okay, we went and picked it up. And then, so what day was that? It was right after Thanksgiving. We went to the tree place. We picked out the tree. We said, okay, well, we need it flocked. Okay, well, we need it flocked. So we got it flocked. So next day we go pick it up and, um, they stand it up, they wrap it, put it in the car.
Speaker 1:I wasn't over in the area, because the area where they flock it is is separate from where I was standing, which was more underneath, where all the other trees were. So I was, so I was standing back. Paris was over there, so I don't know if he noticed it or not, or what, or what was going on, but they wrapped the tree up, they put it in the back of our truck. We take it home, we get it here. I'm like, and we're taking out the truck and I'm like this thing is like really loose, the stand was really loose, and so it keeps spinning, keeps spinning. We bring it in the house and we stand it up.
Speaker 1:This motherfucker is looking like Tweet, leaning over to the left. So I'm like this is a hot-ass mess and so I try to fix it. It wouldn't fix. Then I was also like and then why is it so dark? Like you know, the blue is supposed to be like baby blue, like bright baby blue, and it wasn't giving that. So I was like we need to call them right now because this ain't giving and trees are expensive, and to flock them is even more expensive we play close to three hundred dollars for our tree, okay, and and I'm just like yes.
Speaker 1:And you know me, usually I'm not the one to be like, oh, I don't want this, take this back, you know super, I'm gonna say something.
Speaker 1:Yes, like I'm. I really hate doing that, especially, you know, when it comes to things so minuscule. But no, they called me on a good one that day and I was like. I was like we need to call them and we need to take this back and and potentially needs to get reflocked because I'm not happy with the color. So paris calls and he tells them everything I said and they were like, well, you can bring it back right now. And so I was like, well, let's pack this bitch up and let's go. So we go back. So we get there and the guy comes out. He already see us. I think the lady had already told him we was coming and he's starting to take the tree out.
Speaker 1:I said this is crooked. Y'all need to fix this. I was like, first and foremost, the, the, the thing. The stand is in cricket, like you could tell that they drilled the hole diagonally and then, you know, put the stand in. And then the other guy I think he's the owner of it this year was like, just pull inside and we'll take it out and fix it. He was like I'm sorry about that. You know, there's only been one guy doing them and he's been fucking them up, mind you, there's another guy in front of us who was just there picking up a tree for him and his girlfriend. They did the exact same thing and they had to take his and redo his too.
Speaker 3:Oh, so you weren't the only one.
Speaker 1:So we weren't the only ones. And then I started looking around and I was like all these motherfuckers is cricket.
Speaker 3:It's funny how you go in with rose colored glasses, because you're like, oh, it's Christmas.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 3:And then you take away like what the hell?
Speaker 1:what the fuck is this like? What is going on like? Who do you have doing these trees and why the fuck is he still working here if he don't know how to put a stand on properly? That's literally his job literally his job, like that's literally. All he's doing is is cutting off the drilling and drilling shit in there. He's just like fuck it. Like I don't give a fuck, it's not my tree. Like this shit don't need to be straight. I'm like what the fuck is this bullshit?
Speaker 3:Did they reflock it?
Speaker 1:No, I didn't have them reflock it because actually it's actually perfect. There's like these little pearls in the flock. This year it makes it look super pretty. So I was like, no, it's fine, the color is fine, I just want this stand fixed. So they partially fixed the fan. They put the stand in, re-drilled the hole. It looked fine. I think what really the problem is that they didn't cut off any of the bottom leaves. Usually the places that I go to, they cut off the leaves, then they drill and then they put the stand on.
Speaker 1:Because, if it's not, because more than likely it's a tree. It's not consistent all the way around the bottom, so you sometimes have to cut off some of the little branches.
Speaker 1:But they didn't do that and because there was already a hole in there, it really didn't help or do anything, for the hole that was in there before it was because they drilled it so deeply. They still had to, you know it still had a little bit of remnants. They still had to, you know, it still had a little bit of remnants. But anyway, we brought it home, tried to, you know, fix it with the stand, because he did tell us if you step on, if you step on the legs, then you can straighten it out. Try to do that. It kind of worked, but not really. So it just looks.
Speaker 1:It just looks like it's drunk and leaning back it had too much eggnog yeah, so when you come over next week for our live show on december 12th, you'll see it okay, I'm excited for that um, but other than that, you know, honestly, I've been um enjoying a little bit of my downtime at work. Right now it's a little slow, um, it's a little slow, but it's also busy. Everybody's trying to, you know, cram things in before the end of the year, um, a lot of financial end of the year stuff happening um.
Speaker 3:But have you been doing stuff with?
Speaker 1:your mother-in-law um she's been sewing, so she's been in and out of the house, like right now she's gone. She's paris is at work, uh. So I mean, if she wants to hang out this weekend, we can. Um, her birthday is actually coming up in a couple of days. Her birthday is next week. Okay, so maybe we'll go see Wicked or something.
Speaker 3:Oh, that'd be cute this weekend.
Speaker 1:So um, we'll see yeah, that'd be cool but, it's sad season it is definitely sad.
Speaker 1:Just season um today's actually. Also. Shout out to my cousin, uh, chloe. She passed away, um about 12 years ago, I believe, uh from, and today's the anniversary of that. So I just want to say shout out to her and rest in heavenly peace. And then tomorrow is actually my little cousin's birthday. She's turning 22. And then I have another little cousin. His birthday is actually my cousin's birthday is tomorrow. His birthday is on the day before Christmas Eve, on the 23rd. So his birthday is coming up. And my aunt's birthday is next week. And you know all these Sagittarius that I know.
Speaker 3:I love that for you. They're fun, they're fun, they are fun.
Speaker 1:They're fun. They are fun. They are fun. Well, my little cousin. He's actually a Capricorn because he's on the 23rd, but everybody else is a Sag.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah, capricorn season. I have a lot of Capricorns in my life.
Speaker 1:Yes, yeah, I mean, you know, my first boyfriend was a Capricorn. I think I say that all the time he was, he was. I enjoy a capricorn but, it's interesting because libras and capricorns kind of have that same um mentality of like um I don't give a fuck, I'm gonna have you, type of shit, and I was like both times got me like okay you know like yeah anyway, but but yeah, like I don't know Anyway, but yeah, my weekend last weekend was cool, this work week was, you know.
Speaker 1:Okay, I am progressing really well with my second Lego set.
Speaker 3:Okay, I've see pictures.
Speaker 1:I am going to do A little slow-mo or a Time-lapse, a time-lapse reel.
Speaker 3:Oh, it's huge.
Speaker 1:It's huge. So I'm doing really well. If you follow us on Patreon or I will probably clip this too, but I'm doing really well with my Lego set. So I'm almost finished. I'm actually on bag five, so that's the last bag, so it'll be finished by time you know this episode comes out, but other than that, um, I've been trying to keep it as low-key as possible yeah you know it's chilly outside. I think we need some rain. I'm not gonna lie, it's real dry outside, but it is cold.
Speaker 3:It is cold. It's been really cold. It wasn't this cold this last year. I don't think it was.
Speaker 1:Last year it was like 75 degrees on Christmas.
Speaker 3:Did you see there was an earthquake.
Speaker 1:There was a huge earthquake in Northern California, sideia side of town or a side of cali. Uh, earlier today it was actually a 7.0 earthquake, um it hit the bay it didn't hit it. I mean they mostly in Eureka and Eureka oh my gosh guys, eureka, anything. It was pretty much all the cities along the coast. So yeah, I hope everyone's okay yes, um, so now, yeah, sonoma county, sonoma california area okay, um scary yeah, it is scary.
Speaker 1:I mean, I think a 7.0 is like danger. I think it's what did they say? It's considered like danger or damage level. Yeah.
Speaker 3:Yeah, because they were. They had like a tsunami warning right. And then they ended up canceling it like after it, kind of like settled down.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Well, well, welcome to california, girl. The land shakes here. It's funny, though I did the other day I felt like I fell to an earthquake, really oddly enough. Yeah, I was. What was I doing?
Speaker 2:was I sitting on the?
Speaker 1:toilet. Anyway, I was doing something. I was, uh, sitting down somewhere and and felt like the earth was shaking. But it could have been that I just sat down and the earth shook. But anyway, not you agreeing.
Speaker 3:No, I don't agree, but I'm just saying like, because I feel like sometimes, like us as Californians, like we feel something weird sometimes, or like, like you know, sometimes you get dizzy really quick or like I don't know, and then you're like oh my god, was that like an earthquake, or oh?
Speaker 3:what I will say, though, is that yesterday sorry, add, but I saw a comet and I recorded it outside of my house oh, a comment comet, yeah, in the sky or meteor whatever, but it was like shooting down and I was like, oh my god, I was in the in the car with my kids and I was like junior, look, and he's like what is that? He's like that orange thing. It was like bright orange and then all of a sudden you just see it like speed up and then it like glows like really crazy, and then it disappeared you sure it wasn't that thing, uh he posted something on twitter of something like that like flying through the sky yesterday.
Speaker 3:No, it wasn't like those SpaceX things, because I've seen those. They usually leave like a trail. This one was like I don't know. It was crazy. Even Amaya saw it. And now she's like every time.
Speaker 1:She's like are we going to see the star in the sky again. I love her and her innocence she's like I want to see it.
Speaker 3:I was like I hope not, girl. Those things are scary. I mean, yeah for sure. So yeah, well, um.
Speaker 1:So this week, on this episode, we are going to be recapping our year, uh, talking a little bit about the episodes, the top trending episodes that we've had this year, um, and some lesson learns, um, and just chat about you know the, the year essentially, and then we will, and plans for next year for the show. We're both eating snacks.
Speaker 1:Um, I was just telling stephanie that that kendrick lamar album is nice um it just reminds me so much of the hype movement in bay area and so cali it's so cali it's so it is so cali, it is, it is, it is it is the whole one like very, um, uh, it's a vibe gangster. Yes, there's like lay back some hood, nigga, shit, and it's so good.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's good.
Speaker 1:It is. But I've already said that there hasn't really been a Kendrick Lamar album that I haven't liked Even, I'm sure.
Speaker 3:I'll go back and listen to the ones that I've missed. Were you in the car yelling?
Speaker 1:mustard. No, I was more so pissed off because I was listening to it this morning on my way into the office. And my God, can we? Ok, I'm sorry. We'll get to the topics at hand. Traffic has been driving me nuts, Nuts Like I, just I don't.
Speaker 3:We have like LA traffic almost.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 3:It is starting to get that bad.
Speaker 1:It is starting to get that bad. It is starting to get that bad and it's, it's. It takes me 40.
Speaker 3:It takes me like 45 minutes to get like five miles, because from where? From the point where I drop my kids off to where I go to work? Mm-hmm it's not far. It's like a couple exits and 45 minutes for that is crazy I only technically work nine miles from work.
Speaker 1:Nine, it takes me 45 minutes to an hour just to get to work every day. Nine miles, that's insane.
Speaker 3:every day Nine miles.
Speaker 1:That's insane, and I mean like people be just doing dumb shit, like on there. There was a bitch behind me. I'm sorry. Clearly, I'm still upset about it.
Speaker 3:Let's hear it.
Speaker 1:There's this woman behind me. She was driving in her car. I could see her on her phone stopping and breaking while on her phone and I'm like if I was behind you right now I would be so annoyed because all she was doing is like this and you can see her.
Speaker 1:Breaking no attention to what's going on. Then I get closer to my exit. I see this girl drive up to the side of me in her Toyota Camry Her 1990 Toyota Camry. Drive up on the side of me in her toyota camry her 1990 toyota camry. Drive up on the side of me. All I see is this mute gray side bumper and hood. I'm like who the fuck? And I see this. What? This other white girl on the side of me? There's a black toyota honda behind me.
Speaker 1:This bitch is trying to merge in front of me or merge in front of the, the honda behind me. When I tell you that honda wasn't having it and they were driving on the side of each other as the lanes closed and I was like you motherfuckers back here, don't come close to me because I'm, I'm, I'm taking both of you bitches out. If y'all hit this car, I'm like my husband already tried to tell me I'm he talking about some. We gonna sign you up for liability insurance once you finally own your car. I said, motherfucker, you own your car and how, you got full insurance and I gotta get liability. Ain't that a bitch?
Speaker 3:oh my gosh, yeah people. I just be wilding out, paying no attention, just doing shit just doing shit.
Speaker 1:It's so frustrating and I just, I, I don't, I don't get it anyway, like we were saying earlier, for me it's like.
Speaker 3:It's like all the trash too on the way to work on the side of the freeway all over the fucking place tires I'm like the tents, the, the furniture. I saw a fucking entertainment center, a whole. You know like the old school big ass wood ones. At first I thought it was a piano and I like slow and I was like, is that a fucking piano? And I like slowed down, big entertainment center, yikes side of the road. I'm like that's crazy done.
Speaker 3:I was like we pay way too much money like for shit. To be like this is insane I just yeah, I don't know I don't know what's going on with.
Speaker 2:I love callie but I don't know lately yeah I don't know saying sis, I'm like, I'm pulling back a little I'm like portland, denver, seattle, but I think seattle turned red this year.
Speaker 1:I don't remember. Anyway, that's not where we're going. Um, listen to the kendrick lamar album. This is not a paid ad. He's not paying us to say this, it's just good. Yeah, um, all right. So let's talk about the year. So, uh, this year alone, we have produced, um, we've reached our first. We reached our 50 episode milestone. We reached that at our one year anniversary mark, so that was in July. So not only did we reach our one year mark of doing this show which congratulations. We had a whole episode about our one year anniversary and live but we also made it up to 50 episodes, which I think we've mentioned before is a huge milestone for a podcast show. It is a sign. It is statistically proven that if a show doesn't make it to 50 episodes, they more than likely ain't gonna make it. So nigga we made it.
Speaker 1:Then, like we ain't gonna make it, so nigga we made it what you said so shout out to us for making it to 50 episodes and more, and shout out to us again for making it a year. You know it has been. It has been a challenge, it's been a whirlwind, but we are still here and we are still doing it. So thanks for being here and thanks for continuing to stay.
Speaker 3:And supporting us.
Speaker 1:And supporting us. Um, so some of the top episodes that we have had through this year has been um, our red light Reddit episode is one of our highest trending episodes on YouTube. Um, that episode we were talking a lot about, um, uh, Reddit stories ordit dating profiles and different stories on reddit. Essentially, I also shared a dating story, a past dating story of from Craigslist in that same episode wait Craigslist yes, girl oh yeah, the back page yes yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 1:The mail, the mat, the what was it mass for? Mask section of craigslist. Um, so you'll have to go back and listen. It is again called the red light reddit episode. Um. It was released on april 18th 2024. Um. It was one of our.
Speaker 1:It is one of our highest trending episodes to date yeah um, another episode that we have high trending is, um, our cowboy, our Cowboy Brothers episode, which is essentially the release and recap of Cowboy Carter by the my favorite, beyonce Giselle Nosequota, where we had our special guest Martel, join us on the show. Or Logan or Lolo be the freak, join us on the show. Or Logan or Lolo be the freak, join us on the show and hang out with us and talk about his thoughts on on Cowboy Carter. Stephanie actually wasn't on the episode but because you were on your break at that time, but we did sit there and we talked about all the different things and all the things for Cowboy Carter and more Love. That and that was actually released on May, the 6th of 2024, and it was called Cowboy Brothers.
Speaker 3:I was going to say what I was going to say.
Speaker 1:What were you going to say?
Speaker 3:No, Tell us. I was going to say like Brokeback Mountain.
Speaker 1:That's what we should have named the episode.
Speaker 2:I'm just kidding.
Speaker 3:It just reminded me of that because it's like yeah.
Speaker 1:I love that. We also had a live with Vanessa Lomali on March 16th, which is one of our highest trending episodes, where we sat and talked about real estate, all things, san Diego real estate, how she got started, the other type businesses that she has. It was a very, very good informational um live and you can find that on our youtube channel as well.
Speaker 3:She gave us a little uh insight on herself too, and kind of like where, how she you know?
Speaker 1:where she came from. That came from, she got vulnerable with this. Yeah, she did get very, very vulnerable. It was a very good episode, especially being live, and we actually had a really good attendance, virtually that people watched, asked questions and engaged with us and it was really good. I, I enjoyed it. Yeah, but I enjoyed it yeah.
Speaker 3:Any episodes, any other or, before I go into more episodes, any ones that kind of stood out for you, an episode that was like fun to me. I don't know how streamed or what the numbers were like on that episode how streamed or what the numbers were like on that episode, but when Martel came on and we did like the Lacey Peterson, yes. That was fun Lacey.
Speaker 1:Peterson episode. Like those crime, crime.
Speaker 3:You know, crime junkies episodes are always fun.
Speaker 1:Yes, so that episode was actually called um. When did we do was that was recent right?
Speaker 3:yeah, that was. That was released on, I believe, october 4th or around there around Martel's birthday.
Speaker 1:Yes, birthday Bricks and Texan Tunes. So that was the episode that we talked about, the infamous Scott Peterson case, which the resurfacing of it, and we essentially just recapped the Scott Peterson case because we all have watched the recent documentaries of the shows that was coming out about it and just essentially had a discussion about it to kick off our spooky season tales and talks.
Speaker 1:That was a really, really good show. It is a good trending episode actually. So, you know, kudos to us for, you know, kind of staying true to our spooky season and people still enjoying the stories that we tell. Yeah, um, I think other things. One thing to note is that in the middle, right around, actually, I would say I believe May oh, I forgot we did this.
Speaker 1:I would say between May and June was when we switched over platforms. So if you don't know and haven't following us, the entire time, we actually used to be on the RSS feed, but we changed over to a different RSS feed called Buzzsprout, which is a different platform that hosts our podcast. The numbers that we were collecting from the RSS feed is now we're collecting different numbers because we kind of had to start over. We kind of started over from the beginning, collecting numbers based on now using Buzzsprout. So just something of note. We are still on all of our other platforms, though, but I just thought it will be worth mentioning um, where we're collecting our numbers from um. So I'm collecting them from youtube, and buzzsprout is um where I'm collecting our numbers, but youtube has more of our accurate numbers because we've always consistently released on youtube, so yeah, what else One that was.
Speaker 3:I did really like the episode with Vanessa. That was a cool one.
Speaker 1:I also liked the one with Dana. Yes, dana Duckworth yes. Dana Duckworth from Speak Up. Dana came and did an episode with us. What date is that that you have?
Speaker 3:the date.
Speaker 1:February 16th 14th.
Speaker 3:The hour 16th yes, so.
Speaker 1:So we did do a um a episode called being unemployed with dana duckworth um on it, released on february 16th. That was episode 27. That's crazy, um, episode 27,. And we talked about all things being unemployed, where she shared a lot about our experiences with being unemployed. This was during our Black History Month portion and she gave us really just a look into the rollercoaster of her career and where she is now and just kind of her moving forward. Dana Duckworth also has a podcast called Speak Up Dana, so make sure to look her up, and the information for her is actually in the description box of the episode.
Speaker 3:Again, it's called being an Employee with Dana, dana duckworth yeah, she had a really good vibe and she was very transparent yeah so I thought that was cool yes, yes uh dr greg.
Speaker 1:Our episode with dr greg was fun too I was gonna say that yes, so we also trivia yes, we did. We had another Black History Month episode which included Dr Greg, that was released on February 23rd, called Black Ass History Celebration, where we essentially just we did a lot. We talked about, uh, dr greg getting stepping into his career as a doctor, of um, a physician, for greg is a physician hospice care end of end of life end of yes, also talking about being in the LGBTQ scene here in San Diego.
Speaker 1:we also did some Black History Month trivia, which was fun and just. It was a key. You know it was, and that was our episode 28. So these, both of these were all during our black history month segment and for the month of February.
Speaker 2:Give me a second Wesley.
Speaker 1:Wesley, don't you come up in here.
Speaker 2:Shut the hell up um.
Speaker 3:Yes, happy black history that was a fun episode.
Speaker 1:That was a fun episode yes, it was um one of the other ones, so again, if I didn't say it again, so that episode was called Black Ass History Celebration. One of our other trending episodes is during that time was our Hella Cheesemake Podcast Live that we had on February 16th.
Speaker 2:And.
Speaker 1:I'm sure we talked about a couple of different things and it was a yang dang doodle. Again, we had Lolo beat a freak on the show with us. So you can find that on our YouTube as well, where we have all of our visuals from our earlier parts of the show yeah the birth chart.
Speaker 3:One was cool okay, yep that one was around april 12th april 12th that was, and that one, that one transitioned.
Speaker 1:So I don't even know if you remember, but I remember we didn't even plan that episode, that one just happened oh yeah, that one just happened, yeah um, so let me make sure that I have. I have because, if I'm correct, that was our build build a husband workshop episode. Is that what it's?
Speaker 2:called. What does it call on your?
Speaker 1:end.
Speaker 3:Was it the the, the birch heart one?
Speaker 1:Yeah, which one? What does it say on your end?
Speaker 3:a birch heart one? Yeah, which one? What does it say on your end? Um, let me go because I I went back into the clip that we have posted on um on instagram.
Speaker 1:Let me see or was it a leo and a torres? No, I don't think it was that one yes, it was it, was it was called?
Speaker 3:a leo and a tourist.
Speaker 1:Or episode 35, uh, where we uh unexpectedly dive into a conversation about zodiac signs in our charts. Yes, that one is a good one as well. Again, it's called A Leo and a Tourist, released on. That was our 35th episode, and it was released on April 12th 2024. Where we unexpectedly dove into a conversation about our charts from co-host. What-host, what is it called? What's that?
Speaker 3:CoStar.
Speaker 1:CoStar, the app CoStar on your phones and we talked about essentially, you know what our charts said and what they meant, and just you know how we identified with those things. Um, you know we are very big on um, talking about astrology, talking about tarot, um, and all the things, so um god everything, yeah all the things I feel like it all just goes like everything's connected.
Speaker 3:I feel like everything is is connected. Everyone has their, their liking, their belief and everything like that. So I feel like us, as what I do like is that I feel like we kind of incorporate everything. Yeah, so then, like people can relate, you know, whether they're of Christian faith or they're of like spirituality and like the universe and and just everything which I think is is cool. Yeah, we're very open-minded I agree.
Speaker 1:I think um. I also think we're. We're not judgy either, right.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 1:You know I think that you know we do a great job with oh, I got some late notifications on my computer. We do a great job with making sure that we're not judging anyone or that we're. I'm sorry, wait, I'm sorry, I'm lying.
Speaker 3:Only when we watch the, we listen, we don't judge.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I was just about to say. I was just about to say we definitely we listen and we do judge. But you know I can say that sometimes I am judging. I do sometimes come off judgmental, so sorry in advance.
Speaker 3:Like we judge but we don't try to impose like what we believe believe what we do or whatever. Like we don't try to shove that down people's throats. Or like be like well, I'm like this, so you should be like this, right, like so, I mean, there's a balance.
Speaker 1:I mean, yeah, I, I'm judging you. It's funny. We're going to definitely play a segment of that next week in our lives. So make sure, listening and judge. I created this whole little game. I'm so excited it's gonna be so much fun listening and judge. I created this whole little game. I'm so excited it's going to be so much fun. Do we have?
Speaker 3:to reveal secrets.
Speaker 2:I mean, we'll see.
Speaker 1:It's going to be fun. It's going to be fun. Trust me, trust me trust me, trust me.
Speaker 1:So anyway, we are. We talk a lot about spirituality, no matter in which way it is. So, elio and Taurus, definitely that episode was a highlight of that, as well as our most recent episode where we did which is coming out, which came out last week, which is going to be called Turkey Fry, triumphs and Festive Manifestation. So if you haven't listened to last week's episodes that's what that one's called where essentially we did a whole deep dive. A whole deep dive into manifestations for the new year, where we talk about giving gratitude for the shit that we've already done and how we want to essentially move forward into the new year and things that we want to make sure that we make happen.
Speaker 2:Right.
Speaker 1:From there. We are still trending from one of our episodes that we did kind of closer to the beginning of the year, which is the Would you Rather, one of our Would you Rather episodes, which, if you've been listening to us since the beginning of the year, which is the Would you Rather, one of our Would you Rather episodes, which, if you've been listening to us since the beginning, you know that we did Would you Rather episodes when we first started and we did another one in April of this year and it's still a trending thing. Y'all love us playing Would you Rather and it's still a trendy thing.
Speaker 3:Y'all love us playing, would you Rather? I feel like a pattern that I'm noticing is like people want to know, like about us, like you know, would you Rather? And we ask, like juicy funny, random questions? And we ask, like juicy, funny, random questions. And then, like the other one, the red light Reddit, I feel like we incorporated like our dating stories and experiences as well. So maybe we'll have to do another one at the when we come back from our vacation.
Speaker 1:Yes, I agree I that um people love it. I think people also. I think people also love like the not so serious, not taking things so seriously um, yeah part of things. So, which is fine, right, like this podcast is for you to come here and escape and just talk about shit that um yeah no one really wants to talk about, or just to enjoy yourself, and that's really what we built, the foundation of this show on to kiki to kiki honey.
Speaker 1:One of our other ones was it's hard out here to be for a pimp, which is essentially where we talked about.
Speaker 3:Were you going to say wait? Were you going to say it's hard out here to be a pimp?
Speaker 1:Well, I was going to say it's hard out here for a pimp when you're trying to get that money for the rent and his bitches and his sons and his fics.
Speaker 2:You got a whole lot of bitches jumping ship.
Speaker 1:So it's Hard Out here for a Pimp was episode 47, where we talk about how much it costs to live in this world, most likely living here in California and in San Diego, to be specific. We talk a lot about, you know, cost of living. We talked a lot about the opportunities of living in other countries and how much what are ranking the different countries it costs to live in states. So that episode is a good episode if you're, you know, trying to learn about where you can go get the most from your coin and where you cannot. And again, that episode is called it's Hard Out here for a Pimp.
Speaker 1:Yes and again that episode is called. It's Hard Out here for a Pimp. Yes, any other one you want to highlight no, I think, I don't know.
Speaker 3:I think we just we have fun we did have fun.
Speaker 1:We did enjoy ourselves. One episode that I feel like I was surprised that we got trending is big green ones, where we had a whole conversation about boogers I know I did see that we had a lot of likes on on insta too, and I was like.
Speaker 3:I was like is everybody having the same problem? Like is it the pollution, maybe, or what's going on here?
Speaker 1:It's like you never know what people are interested in. So Big Green Ones is our episode 44. That was released on June 21st, where we talked about boogers essentially, and what they are, what they're supposed to do, how they're supposed to help you. A very, very random conversation, but clearly the people enjoyed it, so make sure-. It's like a taboo topic too, Not taboo like bad but like no one really talks about that, so it's also like I.
Speaker 1:I would say it's more random, right, like you know yeah um, the last episode that I would highlight is our worldwide cheesemake episodes. Um, those consistently have been our first one. Our second one have trended consistently, um and so, where we essentially just cover worldwide topics, um, and talk about what's going on in the world, the shit that's going on in pop culture, and highlighting what's happening, essentially Right, whether it's news or celebrities or just whatever just whatever, yes, so if you are listening and go back, make sure to go back and check some of those out.
Speaker 1:And yeah, you know we've. It's been fun making sure to to do these shows with you all or for you all to listen. Stephanie and I do a lot of work to make sure to create and write these episodes. The reality is that some stick and some don't, but if you're out there and you're listening, we are so thankful that you are and we will continue to pour into y'all, as you continue to pour into us by listening to the show. And you know it's been a great journey.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think too. For me, I feel like we an important thing to highlight is that not like we have real life? You know problems too, just like you know everybody that listens to us and everybody on this planet, um, and I feel like we still show up, you know, like. You know you went through, you know your layoff and you were vulnerable and transparent on this.
Speaker 3:Um, this year, you know, I went through my dad getting a diagnosis of brain cancer and you know like facing the reality of that and everything that comes with a parent going through something like that, and you know, I did take a little bit of a break but, you know, still pushed through, even if I, you know, wasn't feeling it or wasn't in the. I, you know, wasn't feeling it or wasn't in the, I was just like drained, you know, in a lot of ways. So I think us this is like therapeutic for us as well, and this is like a cool platform that people can connect with us and see the struggles that people face. You know, and just like connect with that and relate to it and do what you want with that. You know, and just see us as humans as well, not just like this persona or like this, like um image or whatever, like we're authentically us yeah, you know so I think that's dope
Speaker 1:well, yes, and I agree, right, like it's funny, I was watching um, I was watching one of my favorite lives today, um, and one of the things they said is that this show is authentic. We ain't overly producing, we giving y'all the real and raw, and I think from the beginning, we've been very clear, like that's what we want this show to be. Um, you know, I and mostly because I just I want people to be okay with being authentic and be okay with leaving um, making mistakes, leaving in the accidents and, you know, seeing that we're real people and we do the same shit that real people do, which is what I we both have been clear about what we want the show to be. This show we don't, um, overly take things out or overdo things.
Speaker 1:Um, there's probably a lot of shit that people listen and be like, oh my god, why did they leave this in here? Well, this show ain't for you if you don't like all the shit that's going on. You know, we want the people that want to see the real shit and want to just hang out, listen and and be a part. That's what this show is created for and that is what it means to us. To build a community is authenticity and seeing us for who we are, which is human. So that's what the main goal is for us here.
Speaker 3:Yeah, like we already scrolled through Insta TikTok Ia, tiktok I mean TikTok's, not so bad, but like Insta, like you know, in a lot of other platforms where you're like in a constant state of like comparison and holding yourself to a standard that really is not always real. Things are constantly being filtered and and photoshopped and whatever else. Um, so I feel like you don't, we don't, try to do all that. You know, like you can hear my dog crying yes, and you heard me yelling at wesley and you've heard paris come in while we're recording.
Speaker 3:My daughter.
Speaker 1:Yes, yes, we are a real show over here. We are here enjoying each other's company and just chatting it up and talking about all the things, all the gossip, all the things happening, like hella chisme is true and true of what this show is. We sit here, we chat it up, we talk about the tea and the gossip girl, right.
Speaker 3:And it's hella bit yeah. And you get to know us while we do that, so it's fun.
Speaker 1:Exactly. Well, we're going to take a small break and then we're going to come back and we'll be right back. Bye.
Speaker 3:Hey guys, I hope you're enjoying the episode. Let's just go over where you guys should be watching us and streaming us. Importantly, you should be following us on Patreon. Speaker 1:And we are back. So, lessons learned what have we learned over this year? As far as when it comes to, we can keep it specific to the show, or or we can just talk about lesson learned In general.
Speaker 3:So lessons learned. I feel like this year it was a year of isolation for me, so it was like Learning a lot about myself, a lot about like setting boundaries, a lot about communication and a lot about like structure and really thinking like what I want for me and um just and just setting the tone for that. Yeah, um, you know, and just, I did like a chart of, like my ups and downs for this year.
Speaker 1:I don't know. Yeah, what did that look like?
Speaker 3:Okay, so my ups were isolation, like I mentioned. It was actually like a good thing for me. I feel like my son started his travel ball journey, which you know was dope, and it's connected me to a lot of people and stuff like that Amaya starting sports for the first time, which includes her softball, going to Mexico, going to La Paz and to um, sorry, one sec one second, okay, sorry um.
Speaker 3:So going to La Paz and Loreto La Paz has been on my bucket list for a long time, so I was super excited about that. My sobriety milestones have been a huge up for me. I'm really proud of myself for that my spiritual journey. I've gone to church consistently this year, read scripture really like dove into that and also like, um you know, like manifesting I did that here and there or meditating, um, you know, we've done tarot and stuff like that. And another up was I didn't have court this year for any custody yeah, I know that's right.
Speaker 1:She said that was a relief.
Speaker 3:Yes, yeah so those are all uh big wins for me this year yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 3:Yeah, downs, where you know, like I mentioned earlier, my dad's diagnosis and his treatment and everything has been super trying and eye opening. My mom finding out my mom is like moving out of state, you know I am happy for her, but it's also like going through my kids being sad and myself and just the unknown. Yeah, and isolation was also a down for me, because it's hard sometimes, like you feel lonely or you feel like you know you want to just fuck it, go settle or go back to the situation shape, go back to the thing that's gonna lead you really nowhere. Um, so it's hard, it's emotional, you know, but it's also to self-reflect.
Speaker 3:So yeah, those are my ups and downs yes, um, I'm so proud of you, friend.
Speaker 1:I mean you've changed and done a lot um over the years, so kudos to you.
Speaker 1:Grow she out here, growing and developing up out here in these streets. So for me, yeah, a lot. So I'm going to actually take the same form that you did of ups and downs. So major up for me was finally getting a job this year at the beginning of the year and starting work later in March, which I don't need to recap the story, but that was 100% an upper for me, getting my money up, my career in place. Second part of that for me was getting a raise twice since I've been there, heller.
Speaker 3:Thank you, Jesus. Less than a year. Less than a year.
Speaker 1:And then. But other than that, other ups for me were getting through my second semester of school and just getting through that wholeheartedly and fully. Yes, that was definitely up, especially while starting a brand new job. That has been a very, very big challenge. Um, also, continuing to be resilient, uh, with the show resilient and consistent with the show as possible this year, um, although there has been some challenges with, you know, trying to make sure to stay consistent with social media posting and things like that, but all of that is going to change next year. Um, so, you know, even though those, some of those things have been challenging, um, just making sure that I am um, moving and doing the things that I want to do. Uh, uh, through this year was a really big up for me.
Speaker 1:Um, uh, taking time off from, you know, drinking and putting myself in a place to, you know, take care of my body and, you know, working out a little bit. This year. I wasn't up because I, when I was younger, I was heavy in the gym and when I gained some of my weight back, I was just like I can't do this. I just I don't have it in me, I don't, you know, I'm just not interested, which still to this day. I will go to the gym every so often, but I'm just like I'm tired.
Speaker 1:So trying to figure out other ways to get out in the world and exercise and be active has been very important for me right now and probably for a long time, especially with my um whole back situation. So, um, figuring that part out has been an up. Uh, the downer has been, you know, the fact that I do have a full on back injury issue and that, um, I this will be something that I deal with for the rest of my life. So, uh, that has been the downer, any downers. The downer that, I would say, didn't happen this year, happened last year, but we are about to have the year anniversary of that on Christmas. So I'm just happy to be moving forward and getting through that.
Speaker 3:Um, I can't believe it's been a year I know that happened very fast that did happen fast.
Speaker 1:Any vacation like upper vacations, like vacations, yes, up that we have planned-ish this year. I'm looking forward to going to the Bay for Christmas. We are officially. We are definitely going to Fiji next year, which I'm excited about, and I'm going to surprise Paris with well, I'm thinking about it, but I'm pretty sure it's going to happen. But essentially, one of Paris's Christmas gifts is me surprising him to go to Puerto Vallarta for our anniversary, which he's been wanting to go to for years and hasn't been. So I'm going to buy us some tickets, because they're not that expensive at all, except Aerial Mexico Girl $700 for first class tickets, travel Tuesday. You should have bought them. I did, I looked at, I did that's. I had it all set up to buy them on travel tuesday and they were 700 dollars.
Speaker 3:I'm like you don't like volaris they don't have first class okay it's for the working class citizens, the peasants.
Speaker 1:I didn't say any of that, but but if the stupid?
