Welcome back to another episode of the Hello Chisme podcast. My name is Dana.

Speaker 3:

And I'm Stephanie.

Speaker 1:

And we are your hosts. Welcome to our version of our Hello Chisme coffee chat. Stephanie and I are both early in the morning on the Saturday drinking our coffees and teas. Stephanie has her Thanos mug, I have my mug. It's fantastic. How are we doing?

Speaker 3:

I'm doing good this morning. I was out till 3 am, so I'm very tired oh my goodness I know and I I received a call at 8 30, so it woke me up and I called this morning at 8 30 yeah, so, um, because yeah we like rented chairs where I had a friend's giving yesterday and we went to chairs and the lady called me about picking up the chairs. So were you at the?

Speaker 1:

friend's giving until 3 am.

Speaker 3:

Oh my god, girl who had a friend's giving I was there till two and then I got home and then, you know, didn't go to bed till like three. Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 1:

Mm-hmm, anybody by now.

Speaker 3:

No, so I had a Thanksgiving yesterday. It was with some of the parents from my son's baseball team, and so it was a pretty big group of us and, yeah, we had a really good time sounds like a good time yeah, where was it?

Speaker 3:

at um, it was at one of the girls houses, houses like so it was at their house, like in bonita, and then it was cutely decorated. We had tamales and one of the other ladies, her mom, made uh, they're called frijoles puercos, so beans, and they have like they're refried beans with like bacon and and all kinds of stuff and they're so good, and a macaron lot and yeah so I was yeah, um, do you want to hear something funny?

Speaker 1:

so yesterday I had text you. So I thought um, hey girl, how is junior doing? Um turns out, I text a completely different stephanie oh my gosh and I was like why this bitch didn't text me back?

Speaker 1:

I'm like checking in about my little nephew, like what's going on? Um. And so this morning I'm looking through my text messages, um, or actually, when you text me yesterday, I was like that's weird that my text isn't showing up. And so this morning I was like oh, this is why she didn't text me back, because she didn't send it to her um.

Speaker 3:

He's doing better, though yeah that stomach bug is. It was like it's been going around. A lot of people have been getting it. I've been hearing um, but yeah, it was just like a lot because you know he had gotten sick, then my daughter got sick and then he got this bug. So it was just like and my kids don't get sick like that, like they don't really ever get sick like that. So I'm like what the heck is going on and like I give them vitamins and stuff. So I don't know. I feel like this season the, the viruses and stuff are really strong.

Speaker 1:

I mean, yeah, and it's just going to get worse. I mean I feel like, you know, every season there's different things that go around. I think I had a coworker who had COVID and she was, she's still, she's still been out and having to wear a mask and stuff. So you know I was telling her that the whole walking pneumonia thing has been going around too. So that's probably been the cause of like a lingering cough and, like you know, that feeling in your chest, like you can barely breathe yeah um, so then there's that.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, it's this time of the season. You got to remember to take care of yourself and take all the preventative medications that you can, so that way you won't be out here hacking your life away or being hacked at.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and like you said, like for the walking pneumonia too, you have to like ask them to test you for it, because it doesn't show up on x-rays.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's good to know.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so, like for my son, I had to request a blood test, or I had to request, like, a specific test. And then for my daughter too like for her, because she's small, they did a nose swab, but, like for him, they drew blood. So I'm assuming they do the same for us adults Okay. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

That's crazy.

Speaker 3:

How have you been? I've been good.

Speaker 1:

You know, moving through, I think I told you I had a doctor's appointment a couple of weeks ago or a week ago or so, and I went to the doctor and you know I think I've said before that I've had issues with like chronic back pain and it turns out that you know I have. I do have a pulled nerve or pinched nerve in my lower back, which is why I have the shooting pain up and down my legs and around my back. But it's also the cause of because my spine. I have minor scoliosis and I also learned that parts of my spine is deteriorating earlier than it's supposed to be.

Speaker 3:

So, yeah, so what can you do?

Speaker 1:

So he's recommending, you know, obviously make sure that I have good posture. Like you know, working on my posture and making sure, like any chairs or office chairs I'm sitting in is like, ergonomically friendly and has, like you know, to help me with the posture. So, like the chair I'm sitting in now helps with that and it has like a little thing in the back.

Speaker 1:

So usually when I'm sitting here I'm usually sitting like all the way back and then I move all the way up. But also my desk here is a little bit higher, so I may have to switch out my chairs soon this chair soon and get something a little bit different, something that you know kind of pushes forward more on my back rather than sit so far back. And then I also have a cushion that I'm sitting on too right now that I've always had, um, just because it helps with, like, the hips part too.

Speaker 1:

Cause, you know, like I said, it's in my lower back and I can feel it um in all different aspects and then making sure to stretch, and then he's like you need to start exercising more. Cause it's because of the you know, you know, the extra weight. It doesn't help when you're, you know, bending forward or you know and it's not that I have like a belly, it's just like you need to lose some weight and I'm like okay. So, I was going to say they sell like these.

Speaker 3:

I've been wanting to get one. Actually it's like this vest thing that you put on and then it has like two elastics like this on the back and then you tie it here and it keeps your posture straight.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, your back straight and it prevents you from like hunching over and stuff. For me, like once I got the boob job, I felt like I was starting to like hunch more because they're heavy, you know. So I was like taking the implants out is not an option. So what are we going to do? So I've been wanting to get one of those um things and then I've been doing like youtube, uh, videos of yoga.

Speaker 1:

it's called yoga with bird uh-huh isn't the guy no, it's a girl oh, it's a girl I've I've watched one of her videos, but there's another guy that's been super popular lately.

Speaker 3:

But go ahead, I'm sorry yeah, so, um, I saw her like on tiktok and so she has some like for like sleep. She has some for like all kinds of stuff, and they have beginners and they have like deep ones. So, um, I've been doing it and then my daughter sometimes will watch me and then she'll want to do it. So they have actually like disney yoga videos and stuff. So it's pretty cool.

Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah, the stretching helps yeah, and so, and I think up and I'm getting my bike while I'm on my winter break, so, um, I'll be riding. And I asked him if that was gonna, you know, affect anything. He was like it's really just, you're gonna have to make sure to stretch afterwards, um, but the exercise will be good, uh, for you.

Speaker 3:

So um, I was gonna ask you something. Oh, did you ask like if, like aligning your spine or anything would help?

Speaker 1:

yes, I did, um, so I am gonna try and see a chiropractor, okay, while I'm on my break, while my I'm on our winter break and stuff, so we'll do that. Um, I have a surplus of solano patches. I want to go find me some bigger lidocaine patches, ones that actually stick, for when, like you know, I'm super stiff on days because the ones that I have they just don't stick very well, and but, yeah, I got to go find me some good ones. But for the most part, it's really just I got to continue to stretch, do some good posture.

Speaker 1:

I'll probably start doing yoga more now, um, because I've done it a couple of times and it wasn't terrible yeah um, I just you know, I don't want to be in a studio with a room for the people, especially hot yoga it just it don't smell nice yeah, the one from home.

Speaker 3:

the videos are cool, especially like if you're working from home and you're on your lunch or whatever, so you're hunched over all day. I've been seeing videos saying how like they're. Like do these office jobs are like ruining people's bodies, like how, yeah, like physical labor, obviously a it's like apples and oranges, but like um, these office jobs sometimes like they mess up your body worse yeah, because you're sitting there hours and hours and hours a day, right like you're you're at a screen, you you're typing and when you're stress typing or stress doing assignments or projects, you're embedded.

Speaker 1:

Some people are at their desk 10, 15 hours a day. They'll go from one desk to another one. It's not healthy. They'll go from one desk to another one. So it's not healthy and it's important to realize that you have to take care of yourself, especially if you work in corporate America and you're working at a desk all day.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1:

But other than that I have been doing my best with making sure I'm wrapping up the semester and I need to make a plan for myself, because next semester is going to be a little crazy. I kind of went a little wild with the classes and so next semester. I am taking, I'm taking I think it's four classes I have. Oh shit four. Yeah, girl, I have.

Speaker 1:

So registration started at the beginning of oh my God, the application service is down at this time, nevermind. So I'm taking I think it's two African American black studies classes that I'm taking. I'm taking English creative writing class. I'm finally starting with the creative writing classes, and there's another one that I'm taking. I can't remember. I tried math or science I think it's a math class, but I can't remember. I tried to get into my math class, um, but I couldn't find the one I was looking for. So I'm going to probably have to wait until summer or something like that to take it, or do my third year at the community college and wait all the way to the end to do grad school or something.

Speaker 3:

I need to go talk to a counselor and see, because I finished my associates but I want to finish my bachelor's and I know there's so many different programs that they have now. So that's really good, even if you wait the three years and then you do it at the end like yeah, because that's what I'm thinking.

Speaker 1:

I have a couple of schools in mind that I'm thinking that I want to apply for, and, well, two in particular that I'm like for sure that I know I want to apply, and then the last one will be here in San Diego, but the first two are in the Bay Area. That'd be cool.

Speaker 1:

So you know trying to finish strong and you know move into the holiday season or into the break so I can just enjoy my time. I bought a brand new set that I'm excited to do while we're on holiday break because I finished my last one. So if you follow me on Instagram my personal account then you should have seen that I finished it. But I did write a new one this one, can you see it?

Speaker 3:

let's go back, hold on here I'll do this stand up? Oh damn, that looks sick. How many pieces is that?

Speaker 1:

this one is um um. Okay, can you see it?

Speaker 3:

Oh, that's nice.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so this one is.

Speaker 3:

It's a Porsche.

Speaker 1:

It is not, it's a Puegote. A Puegote, I don't know how to say it, but it's a race car. It's another race car. I'm pretty sure it's an Italian race car car, but I'll do some research on that and get back to you. Okay, um, but it is uh, 17, 1775 pieces, um, so it should be like the size of like a, you know, like those little race cars you get, like you can use with a remote control. It should be. When it's finished, it should be about that size, um, and it has like it's. It's really, really cool. It has a lot of pieces, I can feel it, and it's super heavy. Um, the lights on the front glow in the dark, so it has like a little lights effect oh yeah the red one and yeah, it's pretty cool.

Speaker 1:

I'm very excited to do this. I'll probably start it tonight, once I turn in my final assignment, and then work on it while I'm on, while we're on our Thanksgiving little break. That's cute. Right, that one was an expensive one. I bet. But the other one that I want is even more than this one, but they both come out to be about the same size. Oh yeah. Mm-hmm.

Speaker 3:

And you have a visitor in town my mother-in-law's in town.

Speaker 1:

Uh, she'll be with us until, uh, first week of january. It's funny how people are when you talk about in-laws and stuff like that and um or like when I would say, oh, my parents are gonna be here for like two weeks and everybody's eyes get big. They're like, oh my god, they're gonna be here for so long. Where are they gonna stay? And you know, I'm just like they're gonna stay at my house, like I don't we it's we don't fight, we don't argue.

Speaker 1:

I don't fight, we don't argue. I don't have any issues with my parents or my in-laws. You know we have a whole separate bedroom that they can stay in and you know y'all got issues with y'all in-laws. I don't have issues with mine.

Speaker 3:

You're projecting.

Speaker 1:

Exactly, you're projecting your negativity on me, um, but yeah, she's here. She got in last week, um. So you know, we about to have ourselves a yang dang doodle for the holiday season and enjoy our time that's super cute.

Speaker 3:

Have you bought everything already? For wait, you're not gonna be here here for Thanksgiving, or you are?

Speaker 1:

I am yeah.

Speaker 3:

Did you buy?

Speaker 1:

everything already? Yes, we are having. Well, not everything, but I have my turkey.

Speaker 1:

I have my ham. I bought that like three or four weeks ago, though, and we have to go do another store run for things that we need, so I need like a couple more things for my macaroni and cheese. I need a couple more things for my pound cake that I'm going to make and I think those are the only things that I'm making and then they need stuff for the dressing, and I think Crystal's making greens and cornbread and the corn cake Amaya likes.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, yeah, yeah. So you know, I'm really just looking forward to a turkey wing, even though I'm not supposed to be eating any meat.

Speaker 3:

And then some macaroni and cheese. That sounds good. Yeah, we're going to fry. And some macaroni and cheese. That sounds good. Yeah, we're going to fry. My brother's going to fry one this year because he's learning to do that. And then I'm making a ham, which I usually do. And then, yeah, like my mom makes her green bean casserole, we're going to do mashed potatoes. I got that stuff too.

Speaker 1:

Is she going to do her coffee cake this year?

Speaker 3:

I don't know if she is. That's usually like for christmas. I I I would hope that she is, since she's, you know, gonna move after that.

Speaker 1:

So, um, hopefully you haven't really said anything how you're feeling about this move.

Speaker 3:

It's funny that you said that about the coffee cake, because yesterday at Friendsgiving, the op was there and he's like, oh my, that my mom makes like a really good coffee cake. We were talking about it. How am I feeling about my mom moving? Um, you know I have mixed emotions about it. Um, I think, first, like I want to make sure my kids are okay, because my son, almost all his life has been like um, has lived in the same household as her or very close by, so he seems to be like I don't want to talk about it. Like you know he doesn't, he's not very happy with it For me.

Speaker 3:

I don't know, I have like mixed emotions, you know, and I was looking up like how people like when parents move away. I guess, like when you're an adult, and yeah, you know, I'm just being supportive for her, yeah, I feel happy for her. She's going to get a new start. I am, you know, a little bit sad. Um, I think a little not anger comes with it, but a little bit of like that bittersweet uh-huh yeah okay so, yeah, thanks for coming to my t talk and she's going to Wisconsin, right.

Speaker 3:

Wisconsin. Yeah, my aunt has been posting photos and it's covered with snow already, like covered.

Speaker 1:

I believe it. I'm pretty sure they started to get snow that week that I was in Denver because that whole like it was going over that whole area so from denver and it was going up and she's gonna drive.

Speaker 3:

Oh, she has to take her car, so that's like a two, three day drive yeah, so my, my aunt is gonna fly into vegas, so they're gonna meet there and then from there drive. Oh my girl, you're gonna drive in that snow, storm or the snow like, cause her car is a smaller car, it's not like a 4x4 or anything she's gonna have to get some chains probably that's. Yeah, the mountains.

Speaker 1:

Now that I think about that, yeah um well, go ahead, girl, do your thug fizzle. I hope she go out there and meet herself a? Um, nice man, a nice country man, uh, that is gonna take care of her, or not? Meet a man and go live her life and do whatever she wants to do, um, and just enjoy herself. Um well, this week we are it is the week before thanksgiving and, because this episode will be coming out around thanksgiving, I think it'd be a great thing to talk about the things that we're grateful for. So we're going to take a break and then we'll come back and go through some things that we're grateful for and just have a little calm about. Yes.

Speaker 1:

All right, we'll be right back. Bye.

Speaker 1:

And we are back. So, during this time of the year where you know we have holiday season and Thanksgiving, to kick that off, it's always important to you know, kind of think about the things that you are grateful for. And if you're not grateful for anything because shit has just been hard and life has been shitty, that's fine too. Because shit has just been hard and life has been shitty, that's fine too. Maybe, you know, do an exercise where you talk about all the shitty things that have happened and how you can move on from all of those things and just move forward. But we're going to talk about just, you know, just recapping things that we're grateful for and, um, and yeah, um, do you want to kick us off?

Speaker 3:

yeah. So, uh, we were talking about, like, who and what we're grateful for. Um, so, reflecting back on this year, I am first thankful for God having his hands over me, my kids and my family and their health. You know there's been ups and downs with my health, with my family, this year, and I'm just really grateful that everyone is alive and, you know, getting better and just um in a good space. You know whether that's family, friends, like you know, everybody in my life, um, I'm also very grateful for just to piggyback on that like for my family, friends and loved ones' presence in my life. Everyone plays a role, you know, whether it's to push you to grow or like learn, or just whatever it is, teach you boundaries um, I'm very grateful. Um, I am grateful for, uh, my kids. Um, yeah, like they just keep me, keep me going, even when there's days like I just feel like bedriding or whatever like it. Uh, that's a new term I learned on tiktok, by the way yeah um, yeah, I think like they pull me out of that.

Speaker 3:

You know like they're so active and everything that it pulls me out of that. I'm grateful for having a home. I feel like sometimes we don't appreciate like the small things. You know, I work with in a community with homeless and having a home and like a safe space is like so major but it's something so small that we overlook sometimes. You know, like a safe home that has food and blankets and a bed and like it's safe. You know, like it's home. Um, I'm very grateful for that, for my job, um, I've learned a lot and been able to help others and um, I'm grateful for everyone I've met this year, like just meeting new people and like learning new things. Um, like everything I've learned this year. I feel like I've learned a lot about myself, my journey, like where I want to go. Um, I'm grateful for my dog.

Speaker 1:

Cleo.

Speaker 3:

Cleo, even though she'll be getting out my damn nerves. Oh, and it'll be her birthday when this comes out.

Speaker 1:

Oh really.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Not Cleo being a what is she? A Scorpio.

Speaker 3:

No, she'll be a Sagittarius, oh my.

Speaker 1:

God, little Cleo.

Speaker 3:

That's why her and Am I are probably besties yes oh, fire, um.

Speaker 3:

So yeah, I'm just, I'm really grateful, like I'm really grateful for the amount of, uh growth I've had mentally this year. Like myself, like I from the beginning of the year to now, like I'm, like I feel like in a lot of ways I'm completely different. Obviously I'm still the same person but like I feel like I've just grown a lot. So I'm grateful for that. And I'm grateful for the podcast. Um, it like it's therapeutic in a lot of ways and, um, I feel like it gives us like a creative space and just like to be ourselves. Um.

Speaker 3:

I'm grateful for our friendship. You know it's still going strong. We've been friends a long time now and I can't believe it's like our fifth holiday season as friends, or sixth yeah, somewhere around five or six we worked together since before I was pregnant with amaya yes, yeah and amaya before you were married. Yeah, amaya four four um, so yeah but you're pregnant for nine months, so that's almost another year so yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah um that's crazy, right, yeah?

Speaker 1:

it's been, it's gone really, really fast, um, because I've been here for six years going on so near was three when you met me, and he's about to be nine juniors, that's great yes, that's crazy.

Speaker 3:

Right, that is crazy. He's um. He's four foot six and 85 pounds four foot six friend, he's eight years old that's hilarious.

Speaker 1:

Do you think he's gonna get tall like diego?

Speaker 3:

he's definitely gonna get tall. That's he's. He's like in the high percentile Of like his.

Speaker 1:

His age.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and I might say like a low percent Right.

Speaker 1:

But yeah.

Speaker 3:

But I do think Junior will be tall.

Speaker 1:

He wears size 12. In kids.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he's a 12, but like he's skinny so I have to like pull the elastic on the pants, but lengthwise it's like perfect that's crazy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, um, that's hilarious, but yes, I, I guess. So five or six years, um, that all makes.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, because it was like, yeah, we went through your engagement, your marriage, my pregnancy, birth, my breakup, my single journey, your marriage journey. That's pretty cool.

Speaker 1:

Yes, what are you over there crackling?

Speaker 3:

Oh, my kids have these sensory toys.

Speaker 2:

And I don't know if you've seen them, yeah. Got it. Oh, yeah, sorry.

Speaker 1:

Let me stop. What is that noise? Yes, what is that noise? Yes, I, that's crazy to think about all the different, the different things that we go through in life and the time that we go through it. And just in COVID, you know, just going through COVID, because pretty much you were the you and the kids- were the only people that kids yeah, we, we that we're the only we were had our own circle. It was you and maureen, and that was it.

Speaker 1:

I think like yeah yeah, for like two years, um, and maybe greg every so often.

Speaker 3:

But same with you? I don't. I didn't really see too many people like my family was super scared and stuff like I and we would prepare like we would get tested before we would hang out like we that's, and we went through a whole pandemic our friendships that's really cool, I mean. It is crazy, though, to think like that's just in five or six years like all these things have happened in that short amount of time yeah, that's insane yes, very well to think about.

Speaker 1:

Um, so for me, um, the first thing that I uh like to think about is just as far as expressing gratitude. It's grateful that I was able to find a job, uh, at the ending of last year, beginning of this year, um, especially with the circumstances of uh, which I've already shared on here, of getting you know last year when I got a DUI and then now I'm working for you know the place that I'm working for so I got real lucky real fast. So, very grateful to have a place of employment, very grateful to be, you know, in a little bit more of a stable place financially, and grateful that I was able to make it through that whole time, Because it was almost. I started my job at my year mark of being laid off from my previous job, and it's crazy to think about that. I was out of work for a year and just the ups and downs that I went through and then starting this show during that time was well, it's crazy just to think about all of that, right?

Speaker 1:

Uh, so grateful for, you know, being able to have found a place of employment and grateful to be stable with finances. Um, and I'm also grateful for, you know, my partner, uh, who has seen, who has been through uh all of that with me and um been able to navigate uh through such a tough time for the both of us and especially to be able to see me going through such a great depression during that time. So grateful for that I'm also grateful for. I am also grateful for just being able to be resilient, because that is of most importance, especially when you go through hard times like that or when you're going through many things. You know you really do have to have the willpower to be able to maneuver through the shit that you go through on a daily basis, and so I'm grateful that I do have a little bit of some power to move and to navigate through some of those things and to see things through Um and you know, to see things, see things through Um.

Speaker 1:

I'm I am very grateful for you know, you and ours friendship and the work that we do together, and um, I am grateful that you are um accepting of how much of a hard ass I can be when it comes to doing business and working on the things that we work on, and I hope that you see it as me wanting you to be better and do more and not, as me, being a hard ass, being a hard ass it's funny you say that because I was thinking that the other day, like I was like you being not, I wouldn't say, hard ass, but like strict or like pushing to make moves, because sometimes, you know, I want to like give up because I have so much on my plate like, um, you know I have my kids like 85 percent of the time, and that's not an excuse because people get shit handled right.

Speaker 3:

So, but sometimes, like mentally, you're like fuck, like if I can just like take a break in this spot or whatever like because you're exhausted. So but you know I'm worthy of like having something for myself as well, and something like that I like to do, you know, with my friend and like you know, like something for myself. So it just it pushes me. So that's how I see it, you know. Yeah, yeah. I appreciate you being patient with my chaotic schedule and everything like that as well.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I mean I. That is where I look at it. Right, I'm like we have gotten so far. It just makes zero sense for us to be here and not just continue to move forward and we'll say the same thing next year. Right, like there's never going to not be a challenge that presents itself. Right, it's always. There are always going to be challenges. The more we do this, the longer we do this, there'll be more things that will come up. But I think what's important is and what I've been learning, and I think what we've learned is that as long as we continue to put our friendship first, we'll be able to, you know, move, move this forward into, do everything that we want to do with the show.

Speaker 3:

And have each other's back along the way and have each other's back along the way, exactly.

Speaker 1:

So I'm very grateful for, you know, just us and our friendship in the show. I am super excited for all of the things that we have coming up and the changes that the show, the metamorphosis that the show will go through over the next year or so, which is also, you know, just a sidebar for the people listening, which is why, you know, we I mentioned that on our page the other day that we've been we're catching up with posting clips and all the things been a little behind, but mostly because we've been working in the background to, you know, put things in place. We've been working in the background to, you know, put things in place so then next year, um, we can be more successful at other parts of the show and, uh, get more to the creativity. Um, so you'll see evolution and change over the next couple of months as, uh, we get into the new year and as we go to mid year of next year, um, you'll see things happening and, um, just more consistency, uh, uh, which is always important for you know, when we're creating content and putting things out there. Um, so very grateful for those things.

Speaker 1:

Uh, lastly, I am also grateful for friends and family. As always, I saw my family a little bit more this year than I feel like I did last year, but mostly because I wasn't able to travel a lot last year. But, yeah, I'm happy to go. I can't wait to see them for Christmas and then be home for New Year's, to bring in the new year, and you know that's going to be a good time and I am thankful just to still be semi-healthy and on this earth and to be able to continue to do the things that I'm doing. So you know, yeah, I'm just ready to move forward and to uh keep fighting the good fight and, um, see what this, this new year, bring. Yes, yeah, yes, yeah. Um, let's take a short break and then we'll come back and we will talk about some, um, some fun black friday deals. I think it'll be fun to talk about those because I think y'all all grateful for these deals. We go by these kids, these, uh, christmas gifts that y'all gotta go buy. Yep.

Speaker 1:

So we'll take a break and we'll be right back. Bye. And we are back. So, as you all know, after Thanksgiving is Black Friday and I mean, hopefully you're thankful that we're talking about these things. I know there's a lot of conversation about you know, boycotting Black Friday and all of the things, but hey, you know people still go. There are some people who are like fuck, that I need to get a deal so I can buy these little people that want these gifts, these gifts.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so this year Black Friday is Friday, november 29th, and have you seen that now a lot of them start thursday like midnight or like thursday at 9 pm? Because I feel like it's getting closer and closer, like to the evening like longer like do you think that's good or do you think that's like, like they should just wait till midnight?

Speaker 1:

no, I think they. I think, if I think that stores want to give the employees an opportunity to hang, to be around their families for Thanksgiving, so that I think that's great and I appreciate that that they should give them that opportunity. But in order to mitigate all of those fights, all of the shit that happens at stores on Black Fridays, like really they should start these sales earlier in the week, like do a full week of these sales so that people won't be having to line up thousands and thousands of people in order to come get some deals. Like these deals can start way sooner than that need to just start on black friday. Um, and corporations are perpetuating the same, the same rhetoric by doing that. You know, um, especially like stores like target and walmart. I mean, I don't know that best buy still do stores, but I remember a time where best buy would I mean people yeah, there's one in our national block.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, there's one in national city, um, and there's one in chula vista right, or is that the same one?

Speaker 3:

there's one, I think it's the same one because it's like borderline it's by the one way yes yeah, yeah, the old navy and all that.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, yes, that's it, yeah, okay, I like that shopping center me too, it's like it's everything yes, can get clothes, house stuff, and then party city is there. Uh, pet petco or pets market is there. Um, it's a bunch of shit over there, um. So yeah, I don't, I think they should start it early, um, but I think that's also why most people now use amazon and every, every most stores have stores on amazon.

Speaker 1:

Like you can buy it specifically from a store in amazon like uh, for instance, I showed you all my lego set that I bought. I bought it from the lego store on amazon, where, essentially, they just use amazon to be able to get their packages out faster. Um, so you know, whatever people feel like they need to do to get the shit done, um, we can't fault people for using organized this corporate shit they've been using for decades. At this point, like, people are still going to shop as target. People are going to shop at Walmart. Um, at this, and people are going to shop on Amazon. At this point, people are still going to shop at Target. People are going to shop at Walmart. People are going to shop on Amazon. At this point, it's all about accessibility. These people have made it easy and accessible, so people are still going to do it.

Speaker 3:

I agree, I kind of wish they would just keep it for midnight because, like you said, the workers and then like I feel like it takes away from like the holiday and like what it's meant to do, but because, honestly, I feel like Thanksgiving, yeah, it's about like the pilgrims and shit, but like is it?

Speaker 3:

that's valid, is it? You know? Like I feel like it's just now like a consumer holiday, uh, you know. But also like it depends on yourself and like how you, what you instill that right into your kids as like, take a day to just really be grateful for what you have, and like, because that's how I, my son and my kids are going to learn regardless at school, like the history and is it 100 percent accurate or not? Probably not, but that they'll learn that later. But I want to just instill that it's like a day to be grateful and stuff and just pause and like be with your family. But uh, with that said, I do believe that they should have it like a week and just like start stocking up on shit earlier in the year so then they can prepare to have enough um product for it to last, like you know, four days, maybe. Like maybe start like on a tuesday and then just have it have it rotating go through all the way till friday yeah, I mean because the reality is.

Speaker 1:

A lot of the shit that's on sale is the shit that's been sitting back there for months already right. So the reason they run out is because they're probably not getting a shipment. They're not getting a specific shipment for black friday.

Speaker 3:

Most of the time um I think they just try to hype it up too, like for one date. So then everyone's like oh my god, like I gotta go, I gotta get this tv, I gotta get this juicer, I gotta get this shit like. And so like everyone, like swarms, and then they just cash out yeah, because it's the.

Speaker 1:

It's the one day that their sales are finally in the black and not in the negative yeah um, so you know it is what it is.

Speaker 1:

Um, so some of the places that have some of the good deals is Target J, everybody's favorite. They got some good deals for iPads, some of those Lego sets that I've been talking about. It looks like they have some stuff for luggages. I'm sorry my dog is having a fit for whatever reason. I'm pretty sure we just got an Amazon delivery and some iHome devices. So, like Alexa, I'm pretty sure we just got an Amazon delivery and some iHome devices. So, like Alexa, there's some kid tablets and some Beats. I do need a new pair of Beats. I just found out that my other ones I think they're dead. I had them for a little while, so I'm surprised they hadn't died sooner. But you know, what I noticed about the Beats is whenever I use them for a little while, so I'm surprised they hadn't died sooner. But you know, what I noticed about the beads is whenever I use them to work out, I think what's happening is the moisture is getting inside, so it's fucking with them. So I don't know that they're really that good for working out.

Speaker 3:

Got it.

Speaker 1:

That's usually what happens Every time I use them to start working out. They clunk out shortly thereafter. So I don't know. But anyway, the other ones that I'm going to mention for my at-home kitchen girlies is William Sonoma, which is one of my favorite stores to go to for Black Friday. So William Sonoma has a lot of good deals coming out. So, like things for like toaster ovens, espresso machines.

Speaker 1:

I, for the last I want to say four or five years have been eyeing a pizza oven and they have some really good deals on some pizza ovens right now, um, that I might have to go ahead and get myself one this year, um, so you know, those are always really, really cool. Uh, there is some, uh, stanley tucci. You know Stanley Tucci is the actor. He has a new cookware set coming that has come out. That's going to be on the sale too.

Speaker 1:

Very, it's very elite, it's giving very high class. We have like the gold handles and metals on there for, you know, to give you that very upscale look in your kitchen, like you're up here you're making Michelin star meals, honey. So I am here for that. Also, some of the other things that come out of Williams-Sonoma that I love is like the different uh, I they have like top tier. I don't know who they go to for these things, but like the um drink mixers, um, and some of the things that they use to like make hot chocolate, or one of the things that I buy, um, when I go is because paris flips bloody mary's during this time of the year, so the Bloody Mary mix is always really, really good. And, like the thing, the companies that they go to for cake mixes, so they have like a specific company that they work with that makes like different cake mix or brownie mix and stuff like that, and I love, I love all of them.

Speaker 3:

so check out william sonoma yeah, um, I went to uh the old navy the other day. Not the old navy, I just saw this on a it's on a movie. They're like it's not the old navy, it's old navy, and I just said my age, my age is showing, oh, my goodness um I do like old navy, like for the kids stuff and for like a basic fleece jacket, like, just like basics. They're good for things like that and I do love Target's deals.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of kids.

Speaker 3:

Uh-huh, and I was wondering if Hobby Lobby has like a sale because I wanted to get some final Christmas decorations.

Speaker 1:

I don't know. I don't go to Hobby Lobby. They are anti-homosexuals are they? And everything else.

Speaker 3:

I see a lot of like gays showing videos there though, buying their stuff. I didn't know that.

Speaker 1:

They voted for Trump did they?

Speaker 3:

I saw that target didn't donate to the trump account, yeah, or trump fund campaign, whatever you know I don't go to how I like joanne's.

Speaker 1:

I like joanne's more than I like. Hobby lobby really is what it is. And because that we have michaels here, I love michaels. I've always loved michaels. They've always been pretty good Because they took the Michaels. The one that we had in the Bay Area is gone, was gone a long time ago, or at least yeah, but I've always loved Michaels, so I would fuck with Michaels and Joann's heavy. And then also since we have a big arts store, craftyy art store.

Speaker 3:

I go to the little art stores too, yeah, I um, I like michael's, I do like michael's, I did um, we did like a barbie tree this year, not barbie, but like pink, like different shades of pink year, not Barbie but like pink, like different shades of pink. So, like all my ornaments are like pink, different pinks and then silver.

Speaker 1:

That's cute, I love that.

Speaker 3:

And then I got like Target had some pink stuff too, like little trees and nutcrackers, so I've been doing like pink.

Speaker 1:

I love it.

Speaker 3:

Junior picked last year the color and it was like baby blue and like white. So I got to pick this year, you know.

Speaker 1:

I'm trying to decide what thing we're gonna go for for a tree and stuff. Paris and I are gonna try and get the Christmas stuff down between today and tomorrow, so then that way I can see all my stuff that I need to order, because I know there's some lights I need to reorder, there's some items I need to get, so I'm trying to get prepared for what we need in order to in order to in order to, you know, get the house decorated in Christmas wedding.

Speaker 1:

Of course, we know that Amazonia is got a lot of deals things that are all the way up to like 60% off, which is also, like I mentioned before, the same type of deals um things that are all the way up to like 60 off, um, which is also, like I mentioned before, the same type of deals that um william sonoma is doing.

Speaker 3:

But you know, amazon is the smelting pot of all things um I was looking online at the walmart Friday and they have the MacBooks, they have the laptop. You know I've been needing to get one. They have for like 300 bucks.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, girl, you need to swipe that up.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You definitely should.

Speaker 3:

I'm going to see how it works and like what insuranceances they have and stuff, since it's refurbished.

Speaker 1:

You just put it on AppleCare, mine's just refurbished.

Speaker 3:

But you bought it somewhere else or through Apple.

Speaker 1:

I bought it through Apple, but either way, you can still get your AppleCare.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, mm-hmm, but either way, you can still get your AppleCare. Yeah, yeah, and just put it on AppleCare and pay for it every year, and regardless to where you bought it, as long as it's on AppleCare you can go get it repaired. Take it to the store. If it needs to be replaced, they're going to replace it. Okay. But yeah, that is a really good deal.

Speaker 3:

I think I'm I'm at that I need to make an appointment to get mine looked at while we're talking about it, um, but anyway, uh, we digress sephora, sephora yes, um, I want to say, um, I, so I, I have a friend that works at a sephora and the other day I was there and, um, I got a sample, like a free sample, of the fenty I think it was the soft fenty, soft something and I got color matched and I put it on and I was like, okay, I like this, but with the brush that I usually apply my foundation with, I didn't feel like the texture of that foundation goes with that brush.

Speaker 3:

I feel like I would have to get like a different sponge to apply it. With what do you apply your fenty um foundation with?

Speaker 1:

so I've actually moved away from fenty oh, have you why um, not for any particular reason.

Speaker 1:

I do have their. I do have a foundation, but it's one of their sheer foundations. I can't remember what they're called, what it's called, but the one that I use now I've been using Danessa Myricks. Danessa Myricks has a face balm that is really good, is really good. So I've been using a like I'll use concealer and then I'll put it down, my Danessa Myricks, and then, if I need some extra, like you know, just stay, stay coverage, I'll use my Lauren Marcier powder, translucent powder, to keep shit together and in place. But I'm kind of moving over to Danessa, just because I feel like her makeup has a little bit more of a golden undertone that I like and yeah, she gets me together and she has a special kabuki and it's like.

Speaker 1:

It's like shaped like a beauty blender actually, um, and it's like super dense, but it's good for, like, just tapping the areas. I don't use it to blend, but I usually use like a brush. Um, I have a set that I use that actually, I need to clean them, um, but I do need a new beauty blender too yeah, I need to get new brushes.

Speaker 3:

Um, because I feel like my brushes are good but like, and I wash them and everything, but I feel like after a while, like you just need new ones. Like because the oil, like, there's only so much. You can't take all the oil off of it, like from the product, you know. Like washing it, I feel like there's still somewhat it stays on it, you know. So I need to get like a new set. You know which one I like? It's like it's like a metal handle and then it's like a circle and it's like super and then it's like a circle and it's like super soft. Um, have you seen those?

Speaker 1:

No, no, um, I usually. I usually use the one that's directly shaped like a little teardrop, um, but hopefully, um, the folks are excited about the deals and the things that are coming up. Let's take our last break and then we will come back and close out the show. All right, adios amigos.

Speaker 1:

It's funny. I was at our work Thanksgiving potluck and I was like oh my God, does anybody have any Thanksgiving clapbacks ready? Everybody was acting like they didn't know what a Thanksgiving clapback was. I was like y'all get on my nerves, boring. Didn't know what a thanksgiving clapback was. I was like y'all get on my nerves, like boring. Um, do you so? What are you looking forward to eating on thanksgiving? What is your favorite things?

Speaker 3:

so my favorite is, uh, we do a fried turkey, so, um, I do like that and I would say my favorite is I like mac and cheese, or, um, my mom's green bean casserole is good mm-hmm those are like my favorite. Um, yeah, I do like my ham as well, but I I don't know like those are like my favorite dishes.

Speaker 3:

That I said yeah, my mom has always made the green bean casserole since I was like younger, so it was always like, like the house smelled like gay, like the onion and the you know all of that so it's uh, I'm looking forward to that. I also look forward like around this time is like when people start with the tamales, you know. So like that's what we had yesterday and that, to me, is like I definitely look forward to that.

Speaker 1:

I, um, was thinking about making some for work. Um, yeah, just because I was like I, you know, we know that Paris doesn't particularly care for them, and so I was like I need a reason to make them, but who is going to eat them? So, um, at my potluck, I made a mistake of saying I've been looking for a reason to make tamales and it was like, oh, you can make them.

Speaker 3:

Oh, so now that's going to be your uh responsibility, or what?

Speaker 1:

I might make some. I might make like a couple of like, uh, maybe a dozen and a half, and take some to work and, um, you know, and give some to my team and you know, but I don't have. So I have my gumbo pot. I need a rack to go in the bottom because you know how, for the double, for the steamer. Um, I don't have a, I don't have my tamale pot anymore, unless I go buy one.

Speaker 3:

They're pretty cheap yeah, I'm, I have family you can borrow from, but it's like, uh, you're talking about the one that's like, it's like metal with the holes in it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we used to have one at my mom's house, but I didn't inherit it and I don't even know where that thing is at this point.

Speaker 3:

Does your mom know how to make them?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I was the. We were the first, I was the first time to make them with her. Yeah, yes, so I think you guys are mexican in your previous life.

Speaker 1:

I can believe that especially you yeah, I, I believe that and it's funny, I have some shredded chicken in there. I don't remember where it was from, but I have something I can make some like just throw it, put the sauce together and then go get the masa, and then I'll probably do like cheese, or like cheese and beans, maybe for myself, or something like that, or cheese, beans and jalapenos yeah, get jalapenos carrot potato.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that sounds good save me one, so yeah, well, I hope you guys that sounds good. I'll be a bomb. Save me one. So, yeah, well, I hope you guys enjoyed this week's episode. Happy Thanksgiving and hopefully you all are safe. Do not drink and drive. This is really at this time of the year.
